During Apprenticeship Week 2025, we met with Oliver Dolan and Alex Irvine, welding apprentices at Laker Vent Engineering, a leading UK pipework installation contractor and an ECIA member. These young learners are the first apprentices welcomed in Lakers’ new fabrication facility that opened at Teesside in December 2025 reflecting the business growth.
In our video, both apprentices explain the path leading them to apprenticeship and the impact it has on their future careers. They were both encouraged by their parents to gain hands-on experience and learn practical skills to secure stable and rewarding jobs in the engineering construction industry.
