The Engineering Construction Industry Association (ECIA) is announcing that its Supervisor Development Course is now funded by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB). This will enhance training opportunities for supervisors working under the National Agreement for the Engineering Construction Industry (NAECI), offering them the tools they need to succeed in their roles.
This support is part of the ECITB’s broader commitment to grow competency amongst the first-line management across all engineering construction sectors.
Designed as a one-day introductory course, the programme equips both new and experienced supervisors with practical skills to manage a workforce effectively.
It emphasises the importance of delivering work “right the first time” and maintaining a fair and unbiased approach to supervision. Participants are also introduced to the use of soft skills in managing complex workplace situations.
The course content includes multiple first-line management modules and features interactive NAECI scenarios to provide real-world context.
This course complements ECITB’s own two-day NAECI Supervisors’ course, which is aimed at more experienced supervisors with a workshop working directly alongside Stewards. This makes the ECIA course a perfect first step for both new and existing supervisors and managers.
Topics cover a range from self-management and effective communication to team leadership, ensuring participants leave with a well-rounded understanding of workplace supervision.
ECIA member companies interested in enrolling their supervisors can find full course details and booking information in the ECIA Member Zone.
This initiative not only promotes effective supervision within the engineering construction industry but also underscores the importance of accessible training for fostering a skilled and effective workforce.
ECIA members that are also on the ECITB register can now claim the full course cost back through the ECITB grant management system, subject to budget availability.
